Colorado Springs has gone through a major growth spurt over the past 15 years or so. That is why the Eastern portion of the city, is no longer the eastern boarder of the city. Boardered by Platte Avenue on the South, Union Boulevard on the West, Austin Bluffs Boulevard on the North and Powers Boulevard on the East, this area of town has the charm of established neighborhoods along with close proximity to recreation, shopping, dining, and District 11 schools.
One of the best recreation areas in the East is Palmer Park. The park has, two baseball/softball fields, community playground, football/soccer field, horse stables, restrooms, scenic overlook and drive, picnicking, botanical reserve, Seven Castles geological point of interest, over 25 miles of trails (hiking, jogging, equestrian), three volleyball courts, and a dog park.
